This page gives answers to some frequently asked questions about the use of the Wurrd app. If you have any additional questions, email your inquiry to info@wurrdapp.com

Does the Wurrd App use any custom ports?

Wurrd integrates with Google Cloud Messaging (GCM) and Apple Push Notification Service (APNS). In order for the Wurrd app to function properly, the following ports need to be opened in the network that you are connected to.

TCP: Outgoing – 443, 5223, 5228, 5229, 5230

Why does the app not work with my intranet-hosted test server?

The app is designed to work with chat servers that are reachable from the Internet. Unfortunately, support for locally hosted chat servers (e.g., 192.168.X.X, 10.X.X.X) is sporadic at this time. This should work for Android devices but not iOS devices.

The iOS app does not notify of new visitors or messages

For iOS, Background App Refresh (and Cellular Data where applicable) must be enabled for Wurrd. When it is not enabled the wouldn’t receive updates from the server about new visitors and new messages. Notifications for Wurrd should also be allowed.

If Background App Refresh and/or Cellular Data is not enabled for Wurrd on your device, navigate to Settings -> Wurrd, then enable each of these features.
